Legal Advisor – Private Bank

Overall Job Objective, role and responsibilities
  • Providing legal advice and expertise to the Private Bank including:
  • Drafting and negotiation of agreements such as shareholder agreements, sale of share agreements, supplier agreements, insurance agreements, preferrent share agreements, standard Private Bank documentation, aircraft agreements, “structured deal” agreements, profit participation agreements
  • Assisting consultants on structured deals including managing attorneys and perusing and considering documentation prepared by attorneys and liaising with credit
  • Drafting and amending guarantees
  • Assisting consultants with client queries on standard documentation and where necessary, meeting with clients to resolve issues and queries
  • Drafting amendments to standard documentation
  • Researching and presenting new legislation applicable to the Private Bank
  • Training consultants on the legal implications of the standard documentation
Skills, Experience and Education


  • Must have at least 6 or 7 years post articles experience in a commercial law firm or corporate environment in financial services
  • Commercial drafting experience essential (shareholders agreement, sale of shares/business agreements etc)
  • Banking experience is preferable but not essential  



  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Admitted attorney
